Buddha knows Local Entrepreneurs

Well doing buddha bowl challenge has been going well so far. I must say, to do this challenge well I think it requires more planning than I originally thought. With that being said, my next step is to prep my veggies for the rest of the week so I don’t have to worry about what to make for every single meal.

So far to make do:

The North End Juice Co. of Richmond. Run by two west coast foodies, the sidewalk juice bar serves fresh-pressed juices, acai bowls, smoothies, to-go salads, hummus and baked empanadas. The unsuspecting walk-up window has a constant flow of people. The bar has been bustling with people, 7 days a week, since they opened just 4 months ago in December. Why has it been so busy? My buddha bowl journey ties in nicely with the story of these local businessmen.

Entrepreneurs of North End: Channing Miller and Cliff Miller.

They filled an empty space in the stomach of Richmond. Here it’s a small town, which means if your food isn’t outstanding or unique, you won’t be here long. When you walk up, one of the brothers is there to greet you with a smile while the other is in the back, juicing and blending every drink to order. There are secret items not listed on the menu, just ask what Cliff or Channing recommend as their favorite.

What makes them different? They used their backgrounds and skills to offer a unique niche for a community craving options. As a college town, the young population’s market choice is organic and fresh. Cliff and Channing brought their experiences from living on the west coast and traveling with the military to the flavors and atmosphere of North End Juice Co. As Channing told me one morning, as a bartender he loved experimenting with flavor and drink combinations, now he applies this to creating delicious food.

Day 1, my breakfast: Vanilla protein bowl – bananas, coconut, chia, and granola bottom.
